We pride ourselves on being Cape Cod's oldest children's specialty store.
The Children's Shop,Inc. is a Chatham institution. The family owned Main Street location was opened in 1955 by Jane and John Nickerson.
In 1984 daughter Ginny Nickerson purchased the business, expanding the inventory to include a variety of toys and clothing for kids ranging from infants to teens.
The Children's Shop carries well over 100 manufacturers including Hartstrings, Flapdoodles, Lilly Pulitzer, Joan Calabrese, Florence Eiseman, Imp Originals, Vitamins, Fresh Produce, Feltman, Little Me, Manhattan Toy's "Groovy Girls," Puppet Workshop, Christine Foley, Tommy Hilfiger, Wes and Willy, Mulberry Bush and Plum. We are also widely known for our extensive collection of Christening gowns and First Communion dresses.
Chatham is a seaside fishing community steeped in history and tradition. The building that is the home for The Children's Shop was built in 1849 by one of Ginny Nickerson's ancestors, and it maintains all of the charm and character of a historic Cape Cod structure.
The Children's Shop, voted "Best of Cape Cod" by a leading magazine, is proud to be outfitting a third generation of boys and girls. Our staff is experienced and helpful and looks forward to seeing you!
